About the role

The Senior Associate will be responsible for supporting the Senior Policy Advisor in implementing country level policy activities. The role will require an element of coordination and collaboration with project teams in the country office to identify, plan, design and execute areas of policy support.

The ability to build and maintain relationships will be a key component of this role, as well as having the ability to be innovative and be solution orientated.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • In close collaboration with the Sr Policy Advisor, executing activities under advisory groups for fortification including the Technical Advisory Committee and other high-level events to amplify advocacy efforts for fortification.
  • Actively leading on the translation of policy decisions into tasks and projects and ensure their effective and timely implementation.
  • In close coordination with Global DGA, leading the implementation of country workplan, as work packages, to ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Ensuring timely completion of internal processes including project delivery, reporting, monitoring, learning, and evaluation, and budget management.
  • Providing technical guidance and leadership to the implementing agency to coordinate and facilitate local management meetings (including ensuring that agendas, power-point presentations, talking points, meeting notes are taken and follow up actions aligned)
  • Representing GAIN in meetings with external stakeholders including government, NGOs, private sector.

About You 

The post holder will have extensive and demonstrable experience of stakeholder engagement and project management implementation and coordination across a variety of sectors. You will have extensive knowledge of the factors that influence nutrition, food and climate change.

You will have the ability to provide technical guidance to support staff with policy and advocacy work and materials such as preparing high level publications, briefs, memos, smart deck etc, in addition to having experience in the facilitation of local management meetings with government, academia and public/private sectors.

The successful candidate will also be able to manage their time effectively in order to balance a complex and challenging workload. Leading by example by guiding and advising junior members with your approachable personality will be a plus.

A relevant college degree in Sociology/ Anthropology, Development studies, Political Science, or a suitable equivalent is required. A Bachelors’ degree from the above discipline including relevant professional certificates and demonstrable working experience is highly desirable.

Fluency in written and verbal English is required in order to be successful in the post.
