Save the Children recruits a Safeguarding Specialist  (190003QF) in Jakarta Selatan

 

Role purpose:  

YSTC Indonesia has made child safeguarding, Anti-Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Exploitation policies as its highest priority and adopted a zero tolerance approach to build a Safeguarding culture and to protect staff and representatives from any harm. The Safeguarding Specialist will provide support to all YSTC staff, Partners (and related personnel/ associates covered in the policy) to ensure continuous improvements in reinforcing Safeguarding and to foster a culture of respect free from any form of Harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse.

In order to deliver our commitment YSTC Indonesia has developed policies, training and reporting mechanisms in line with SCI Global policies that allow us to identify and respond effectively to any kind of associated risks. The effective response to concerns, suspicions or allegations of abuse is a key aspect of this framework. This position will provide technical support and build the capacity of all staff, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders on safeguarding matters, monitor safeguarding compliance, as well as promoting a culture of learning and accountability on Child Safeguarding and Anti-Harassment within YSTC Indonesia.

The Safeguarding specialist shall also continuously promote protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and actively participate in external and internal forums. This position will also assist the Manager HR Strategy in handling grievance and disciplinary issue, especially those related with code of conduct, sexual abuse, sexual harassment and child safeguarding.

The post holder will contribute to achieving global KPIs as follows: Child Safeguarding KPI; Anti-Harassment and Bullying, and in particular Child Safeguarding Training and TOT on Sexual Exploitation and abuse.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and experience

Essentials

  • University Degree in Human Resource Management or similar degree
  • At least 5 years professional working experience, in a corporate or an NGO environment, including experience in managerial positions
  • In depth understanding of Child Rights , Human Rights, Child Safeguarding and Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse(PSEA)
  • Experience of managing as well as undertaking complex investigations and or disciplinary investigations.
  • Experience of planning and undertaking training programmes/workshops in child protection/safeguarding at a range of levels
  • Multi-disciplinary experience of working successfully with senior management.
  • Self-sufficient, proactive and self-motivating.
  • Analytical, decision making and strategic planning skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Ability to work within multicultural teams and proven team work ability
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and provide YSTC counselling to staff
  • High sense of personal integrity, discretion and good judgement
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including first-rate written/spoken English and Bahasa
  • Outstanding presentation, session facilitation and report writing skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office

Desirable

  • Professional certificate(s) on advanced TOT (Training of Trainers) and training management
  • Experience of humanitarian responses
  • Being a trained investigator
