Knowledge Management Officer

(Fixed Term Contract- Maternity Cover)

World Vision Ireland was established as a registered Irish charity in 1983. World Vision Ireland is a member of the World Vision International partnership, which is both the largest emergency relief and Child Sponsorship agency in the world.

World Vision Ireland’s primary objective is to support our field operations, both in terms of our core long-term development programmes and humanitarian & emergency relief. We do this by raising private, institutional and Government funds, by informing the Irish public about humanitarian issues as witnessed first-hand by World Vision in the field, and by influencing policy in the areas of long-term development and emergency relief. World Vision Ireland has added a number of new grants to our Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs Portfolio and we are now recruiting a Programme Officer to support the implemention of programmes.

The Role

The Knowledge Management Officer (KMO) will provide technical support for monitoring and evaluation (40%) and research and learning (60%) across the Organisation, with a particular focus on institutional grants. Working within the programmes team (relevant portfolio managers, the policy and advocacy manager and relevant learning partners) and liaising with the communications team, the KMO will be supporting the production of donor reporting requirements and programme monitoring requirements, knowledge products for reporting, communications, or advocacy purposes. The KMO will be responsible for the supporting M&E and the development and maintenance of an organisational knowledge and information management system.

Responsibilities

  • Support the collection and analysis of data in line with programme monitoring and evaluation plans.
  • Support systematic collection, documentation, reporting on and sharing of the World Vision Ireland portfolio outcomes and achievements, in line with donor reporting guidelines.
  • Develop a learning plan to meet the knowledge management needs of the programmes team and follow-up on the development of the associated knowledge products, in line with Organisational theory of change.
  • Support documentation of best practices, innovative tactics, and methodologies in an accessible and easily understandable way for replication and scale up.
  • Support the programmes team in the development of webinar content and ensure adequate dissemination of knowledge products.
  • Package relevant information into different reporting products to ensure an adequate and regular information flow to key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of grant communications requirements.
  • Ensure all approved projects under the WV IRE portfolio have Knowledge & Information management processes aligned to the best practice and meeting the required standards, aligned with WV International available guidance.
  • Support the identification and design of innovative practices to improve organisational efficiency and effectiveness in knowledge and information management.
  • Routinely refresh content and maintain accessible, user-friendly knowledge repositories, regularly archiving/purging obsolete materials.

Skills and Personal Qualities

  • The successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree in a development field, social science, economics, or other related discipline, with an emphasis on information management.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in both development and humanitarian contexts, working on monitoring and evaluation, information management, external engagement and/or communications.
  • Ability to work in a facilitative, participatory, and collaborative manner.
  • Ability to mobilize stakeholders and influence decision makers.
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation and research methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact).
  • Experience in processing large volumes of information, summarizing it and packaging it for communication with different groups of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in using digital software for organising information and creating visuals based on user requests.
  • Strong analytical skills for synthesis of materials, evaluations, and preparation of presentations/articles for publication.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
