Purpose

As (Associate) Valuation Officer, you will primarily be responsible for the provision of valuations and provisions in respect of the Bank’s (i) equity-type investments and (ii) operations portfolios. You will also contribute to management of data, maintenance of its quality and support the Team in periodic performance reviews and performance reporting. You will also assist the Division team members, as far as data, valuations and provisions are concerned in the operations lifecycle management (relationship, monitoring, coverage, events resolution). Externally on occasion, you will maintain contact with counterparts, other transaction stakeholders, and co-investors.

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in debt or equity valuation or related services, either within an accounting/consulting firm, a financial services group or within a fund manager (e.g. AIFM)
  • Previous work experience in preparation or review of valuations complying with IFRS, US GAAP, IPEV and/or IVS standards/guidelines will be a strong advantage
  • Previous work experience in preparation or review of provisions for loan portfolio complying with IFRS (3 stages) will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial theory and solid understanding of GAAP valuation and provisioning reporting requirements
  • Understanding of debt and equity structures
  • Knowledge of business intelligence solutions such as Capital IQ, Pitchbook and/or Bloomberg will be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, in particular financial modelling experience and ability to develop three-statement financial models and manage large data sets.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good knowledge of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
