Operating Network

You will report to the Head of ITGC and work under guidance of the (Senior) Loan Officers from both Luxembourg and the Athens office, cooperating also closely with colleagues within OPS as well as other Directorates, e.g. Risk Management (GR&C), Legal (JU), Projects (PJ) and Portfolio Management and Monitoring (PMM).

Accountabilities

Projects origination process

  • Track developments in and monitor your target market, develop and maintain a network of contacts with promoters and borrowers and identify lending opportunities that best meet COP objectives.

Lending process

  • Evaluate, at an early stage, the quality of potential projects and their chance of success, including where appropriate consultation with colleagues in the Projects, Risk Management and Legal Directorates in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the appraisal process;
  • Lead and coordinate the lending process in cooperation with other Directorates, also under the concept of Global Relationship Management;
  • Structure loan proposals, evaluate the feasibility, analyse project and financial risks, prepare reports and lending proposals in cooperation with the appraisal team.

Purpose

As (Associate) Banker, you will identify, appraise, negotiate and monitor corporate and finance operations across the public and private sector in Greece according to EIB policies and procedures and with the objective to contribute to EU Policy goals and the Bank’s operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • University degree, ideally in Finance/Economics or any related subject (preferably Masters in Finance or CFA)
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the financial sector, preferably in financial advisory services or loan structuring and execution
  • Expertise in financial analysis and cash flow modelling as well as experience in credit risk assessment
  • Knowledge of standard computer tools
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French (*) with a good command of the other.
  • Working knowledge of one or preferably combination of the languages spoken in the region would be an advantage.
