Operating Network

The Integration Platform Services (IPS) unit delivers integration capabilities that are at the heart of the EIB, running a number of platforms that enable application integration, supporting core business activities. We are constantly innovating in the way we work and deliver services, using state of the art technologies such as Kafka, API Gateway or Data Virtualization.

You will report to the Head of Integration Division.

Accountabilities

  • Provide team leadership, setting individual objectives, reviewing performance and providing ongoing feedback, as well as coaching and supporting team members;
  • Facilitate teamwork and create an environment in which team members can achieve optimal performance; ensure learning, knowledge sharing, and communication within and outside the team;
  • Run modern and complete integration platforms (Kafka, API Gateway, Data Virtualization, etc.) made available as services and used autonomously by application teams;
  • Drive the development and implementation of an overall strategy for the integration platform services in line with enterprise architecture guidelines and best industry standards;
  • Define, jointly with enterprise architecture, best practices and standards for the governance and use of the provided services. Observe and monitor accordingly;
  • Focus on key transformation steps such as establishing a solid Enterprise API management strategy, an API-first culture, and promoting the usage of event driven architectures;
  • Work closely with application teams to understand needs and deliver services that enable them to integrate autonomously and effectively. Establish communities of practice around the provided services to foster communication, collaboration and sharing;
  • Drive change management activities;
  • Manage the unit’s planning, budgeting, and procurement activities according to practices and EIB’s internal processes;
  • Monitor and control the implementation of the projects/programmes in the remit of the unit, ensuring they are delivered on time and budget, bringing all the foreseen benefits;
  • Keep up to date on industry trends;
  • Promote agile practices and cloud transition;
  • Promote and adopt the highest quality and security practices for the delivered platforms.

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably in computer science or related disciplines;
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience including delivering and/or using integration platform services. Understanding of Kafka and API Gateway would be a distinct advantage;
  • Proven ability in leading and coaching people, ideally in multicultural environments or international organisations;
  • Ability to foster collaboration, provide mentoring and positively influence the team of experts. Previous experience in roles with the exposure to leadership would be an advantage
  • Solid experience in efficient management of stakeholder relationships;
  • Deep understanding of IT project management and Agile techniques;
  • Experience in contributing and implementing a strategic roadmap in line with the overall organizational strategy;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
