Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Senior Technical Adviser to join our team in Kampala, Uganda.

 

The Senior Technical Advisor will be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) for the anticipated five-year, USAID-funded PMI Uganda Malaria Control Activity which is a follow on to USAID’s Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD). The role is anticipated to be one of the key personnel and will provide overall technical leadership and technical oversight for attainment of the project results. S/he will have in-depth understanding and up-to-date knowledge of the malaria control landscape in Uganda, including opportunities, challenges, ongoing projects and the priorities of the National Malaria Control Division. S/he will be responsible for leading and managing a team of technical specialists to ensure that all technical support and service delivery components follow national guidelines and standards, and PMI technical guidance. S/he will work closely with members of the SMT to develop detailed work plans and ensure timely and quality implementation. S/he will liaise closely with the National Malaria Control Division to ensure effective coordination and collaborative adaptive management at all levels of the health system.

The successful candidate will have :

  • A medical degree and Masters in public health, epidemiology or other health related area ;
  • Extensive experience in malaria prevention and treatment programs in LMICs ;
  • Experience in a technical leadership role including supervising and mentoring technical staff for similar health projects in developing countries ;
  • Demonstrable experience of providing technical support to national programs ;
  • A track record of developing capacity of national partners ;
  • Experience working with USAID on large-scale programs, including knowledge of USAID regulations and contract compliance ;
  • Experience and understanding working with governments and government systems, the private sector, and international donors ;
  • Experience working with and understanding of private sector malaria case management ;
  • Experience working with USAID PMI-funded programs.
