The position of Senior Communications Officer in the Warsaw office of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a full-time local contractual position with an initial appointment term of one year, renewable and eventually convertible to three-year terms. It carries a competitive salary and local benefits package. The selected candidate will help shape and implement the IMF’s outreach strategy in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. In addition to providing help to the regional office in Warsaw, he or she will support the outreach efforts of the IMF regional office in Vienna and other resident representative offices in the region. The selected candidate will report to the Senior Resident Representative in Warsaw and liaise with the communications team of the IMF’s European Department, including in Brussels/Paris, and the Communications Department in HQ.Responsibilities

  • Disseminate key policy lines/analytical work in the region (blogs, podcasts, opeds, press releases, social media, etc) in way that maximizes impact.
  • Create and manage IMF media platforms that focus on CESEE (i.e., twitter, linked in, office website)
  • Track the policy debate in the regional media and flag relevant coverage of the IMF or issues of importance to the IMF, with suggestions for Fund engagement.
  • Manage logistics around media engagements including interviews, background briefings, and other outreach events. Support visits by EUR and Fund management.
  • Translate communication products into Polish as required.

Qualifications

The selected candidate will have:

  • At least 12 years of work experience in communications and/or media;
  • A sound grasp of macroeconomics;
  • Command of social media;
  • Fluency in the key economic policy issues important in the region;
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills, in both English and Polish;
  • Knowledge of key media players and key economic policy figures in CESEE;
  • Experience organizing high-level events;
  • A university degree in a relevant field of study;
  • The right to work in the European Union;
  • Knowledge of web design, web content maintenance, and video skills is a plus.
