Position Description:

MannionDaniels’ is committed to having a net positive impact on society, the environment, and the global economy by tackling climate change, protecting biodiversity, delivering social value, and embedding sustainability.

To support our work within our Environment and Climate practice area we want to expand our pool of Sustainability Experts to support the delivery of MannionDaniels’ sustainability consultancy services to clients. Assignments will be based on demand and requirements and will be shared with the consultant pool on an ongoing basis. To this end, we are seeking qualified candidates for potential long-term and short-term opportunities in improving the sustainability of businesses and civil society organisations. Key areas of expertise could include any of the following:

  • Carbon accounting using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol
  • Setting science-based targets
  • Developing net zero decarbonisation strategies
  • Carbon credits/offsets in the voluntary market
  • PAS 2060 standard and carbon neutrality
  • Improving sustainability within supply chains
  • Climate change risk management
  • Environmental legislation and legal obligations
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards
  • Assessing and improving business impacts on ecology and biodiversity
  • Sustainable packaging and waste minimisation
  • Circular economy and life cycle assessments
  • Energy auditing and efficiency measures (including ESOS lead auditors)
  • Sustainability comms and marketing
  • Business reporting against SDG goals, benchmarks, and targets
  • Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting across frameworks such as GRI, TCFD, SASB, CDP, IIRC

Key Competencies:

Candidates will be expected to provide technical expertise and sustainability guidance across all stages of the business cycle, through policy and process development and implementation to monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Depending on the nature of the consultancy this may involve any of the following tasks:

  • Delivery of guidance and support to clients
  • Conducting audits, assessments, and reporting findings
  • Research and analysis
  • Capacity building activities and knowledge sharing facilitation
  • Learning management and dissemination
  • Developing sustainability content, tools, and approaches
  • Other direct and/or adhoc technical assistance

Required qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in environmental sustainability, climate change, or ESG;
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in one or more of the business sustainability areas of expertise listed under Position Description;
  • A degree in a subject relevant to climate change, environmental and natural sciences, economics, or business administration;
  • A record of supporting organisations or government to become more sustainable;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
