A day in the life of a Transforming UK Operations Programme Director will involve:
  • Taking charge of the Transforming UK Operations programme, leading the development and ownership of the programme plan from start to finish ensuring clear timelines and processes are in place.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Executive Director of UK Operations, Programme Directors, and Senior Management to keep projects on track and effectively manage dependencies.
  • Continuously updating and refine the business case for the programme, clearly presenting options, benefits, costs, dependencies, and risks.
  • Driving the delivery of programme outputs according to the business case, with sharp focus on achieving desired outcomes, controlling costs, and managing risks.
  • Fostering a motivated and engaged team by actively engaging with team members, to ensure everyone is aligned and motivated to meet project and programme objectives.
  • Playing a key role on the Fit for Future Management Team, actively contributing to and learning from the broader changes happening within the British Red Cross.
  • Collaborating with the Communications and Change Management teams to design and deliver effective change narratives and communications that support the programme goals.
  • Representing in governance meetings, workshops, and staff meetings as needed, providing clear and concise updates on programme milestones, benefits, dependencies, and risks.
To be a successful Transforming UK Operations Programme Director, you’ll need:
  • To be a subject matter expert in programme management and service improvement in complex environments.
  • To demonstrate strategic thinking and planning skills to translate business requirements into effective strategies.
  • To possess excellent communications skills to engage with senior leaderships teams, external partners, and agencies.
  • To show experience as a successful leader who can foster a high-performance culture.
  • Have knowledge of matrix management approaches and the ability to apply them in a complex organisation.
  • To exhibit strong IT skills and a focus on using digital tools for efficient work delivery.
