The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the permanent Global Communications Volunteer to join our Communications team for 3 months.This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. The Global Communications volunteer will be responsible for supporting the Global Communications Team strategic objectives, including positioning Save the Children as the expert for children, enhancing and protecting our reputation, building global communications capacity, and inspiring and engaging staff. Such tasks may include: internal and external channel management, developing training tools to build communications skills, supporting our global campaign, as well as searching for and gathering content for distribution across our global channels.

This role will provide the individual with experience of working within a global communications team of an International NGO.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Development, or relevant field / equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Relevant experience in communications, PR or international development
  • Experience with the development and execution of communications plans, digital channel mangement and content development
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Able to work independently and be able to take own initiative where required
  • Diplomacy and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and be able to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in the English language, both written and oral
  • A commitment and interest in working within an NGO environment
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children

Desirable

  • Experience working with or for an international NGO or in international development context
  • Foreign languages
  • Skills in video editing and / or design
