About the Role:

You will lead our growing Field Applications engineering team that is responsible for building applications used by our field staff to enroll customers, facilitate payments, and collect other data from the field. You will report to the Director of Engineering and directly manage one of two teams of 5-7 engineers each who are distributed throughout Africa, the US, and Europe. You will work remotely from home (#LI-Remote) with occasional travel to our program countries. You could reside in anytime zone, as long as you are be available for team meetings in the core hours of 11:00am – 3:00pm GMT.

You Will:

  • Own the architecture of the team’s applications
  • Contribute Javascript and Python code to make high-impact changes
  • Mentor people on your team to help them grow their skills. Align their day-to-day work with their long-term career goals.
  • Define the coding and quality standards for the team.
  • Lead and improve the way the team does their work together.

You Have:

  • Built JavaScript and TypeScript browser applications in React
  • Designed system architecture in low-connectivity and highly constrained environments
  • Experience working and relating effectively in culturally diverse situations.
  • Led an engineer team, building their accountability, engagement and cohesion.
  • Mentored team members to help them grow in their own careers.
