Main responsibilities

  • Conducts an MHPSS assessment to identify people in need of MHPSS support (individuals, families, communities));
  • Designs and implements MHPSS projects and programs, taking into consideration the impacts, needs, coping mechanisms, and cultural practices of the people and context.
  • Creates opportunities for the implementation of programs in partnership with local stakeholders (NGOs, Red Cross/Red Crescent National Society), to ensure a coordinated response;
  • Provides technical advice to allow for optimal assistance to the people affected while reinforcing and developing local networks and their MHPSS capacities to ensure sustainable humanitarian action;
  • Monitors and evaluates the MHPSS program implementation, including individual, and community needs and the MHPSS response.

Education and experience required

  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work.
  • Degree in Psychology and Master’ Degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
  • Valid license to practice in your country of residence.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly as a psychologist with the military or police.
  • Fluency in English. A good command of a second language is a strong asset (French, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese).
  • Knowledge of public mental health, including integrating MHPSS intervention models in promotion/prevention and care at primary and secondary health care levels.
  • Proven capacity in planning MHPSS programs and community health interventions to address the psychological and psychosocial consequences of violence.

Desired profile and skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and lead a multicultural team in a complex environment.
  • Significant experience in training and supervision processes for capacity building.
  • Good analysis, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Positive, flexible, and able to adapt to challenging living conditions and/or unstable security environments.
  • Previous experience within the Red Cross & Red Crescent movement is an asset.
