The NATO Cyber Security Center (NCSC) is the center of technical expertise for Cyber Security within the NATO Alliance and leads the technical collaboration between NATO and our Allied cyber defenders.

We provide effective, agile and resilient cyber defenses in order to enable the secure execution of the NCIA’s Mission and enhance the NATO Alliance’s collective cyber defense. We maintain and enhance the cyber hygiene of NATO’s Enterprise networks, and lead in the development and delivery of cyber security capabilities and services.

As an Intern – Cyber Security Firewall and Guard Administrator, you will configure, administer, install, and troubleshoot a suite of network security tools, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls and highly specialized guard components. You will also develop firewall policies and create instruction manuals and other documentation. Finally, you will work closely with a team of highly skilled security engineers protecting NATO’s networks.

Who you are:

  • A recent graduate or current student in a graduate or undergraduate school program in computer science or a related field;
  • Proficient in spoken and written English;
  • Knowledge of firewall and network engineering;
  • Understanding of firewalls, TCI/IP stack, routing, switching, VLANS and subnets;
  • Knowledge of common networking protocols such as SSH, SMB, SMTP, FTP/SFPT, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS;
  • A nice to have would be any additional certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Cisco CCNA or Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply to our internship program, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You are a national of a NATO member country;
  • You are currently studying towards a university-level degree or have recently graduated in the past 12 months;
  • You have strong communication skills in English, both written and oral;

  • Copy of the university degree you have completed and/or;
  • Proof of ongoing studies with the dates clearly mentioned if you are still studying.
