The job:

Working as a Project Systems Accountant, you will form part of the technical finance team on the Finance and Supply Chain project.

The overall objective of the project is to migrate from a legacy finance system and manual logistics procedures to a new ERP solution that will standardise ways of working, delivering significant efficiencies as well as better information and transparency for all users.

Successful implementation of this project will require significant process and behaviour change across the organisation and will entail substantial end user training, and change enablement initiatives.

Building on the needs specification work that is currently underway, the Project Systems Accountant on the project will:

  1. Assist on the pre-system financial process improvement stage and
  2. Assist on the financial components of the design, build, implementation and adoption of the chosen ERP solution, during which the role will work in close collaboration with a comparable role covering Logistics – to develop the combined solution.

If you join us, this is what you will be doing:

Process improvement stage:

  • Analyse all the information gathered from departments, branches and subsidiaries from the various meetings, surveys etc. as required by the Finance Project Manager
  • Support business process improvements in selected areas and look to drive efficiencies (this will be based on feedback already gathered during the finance discovery phase)
  • Work with the Finance Project Manager to identify simple and innovative solutions
  • Assist the Finance Project Manager in socialising the potential process changes with stakeholders and in gathering feedback that helps refine the solutions
  • Provide support to the relevant stakeholders to test and implement these improvements

Systems Development Stage:

  • Work with the Finance Project Manager and wider finance team to ensure that the detailed module requirements are clearly defined
  • Work closely with the Finance Project Manager and system development partner on the system build
  • Participate in initial testing of module design outputs and provide results to the system development partner
  • Assist the wider finance team in carrying out user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Assist in the migration of data from the current system to the new ERP
  • Gathering the reporting requirements for the business and ensure these are defined within the ERP system
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and support to the Finance Project Manager and wider finance team on the functionality of the new ERP system
  • Assist in the design of user manuals for training and provide guidance to relevant stakeholders (finance and non-financial users) on the use of the ERP system.

General

  • Carry out other tasks applicable to the role as required by the Finance Project Manager;

Skills you will bring:

Essential:

  • Professional qualification in accountancy and at least 3 years’ post qualification experience;
  • Strong organisation and coordination skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to convey and relate ideas to others, comfortable in presenting to management and other stakeholders;
  • Deep understanding of Concern’s financial procedures;
  • Experience in process improvement and implementation.

 Desirable:

  • Experience in ERP introduction, upgrade, or migration projects;
  • Experience working with an INGO in the developing world;
  • Project Management formal training and certification (e.g. PRINCE2®);
  • Basic French language.

You will report to the Finance Project Manager and will liaise with managers and staff across various departments, teams and country programs in Concern. You will also liaise with external consulting firms and systems development/integration partners, to help deliver a strategic programme of work.
