Purpose

In this role you will manage the daily operations and delivery of the automation and orchestration of infrastructure technologies. Including managing provisioning, automation, IT infrastructure monitoring and analytics, optimisation of tools and processes, keeping IT infrastructure inventory and asset management tools up-to-date and automating service requests, software and tools.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of IT Operations Unit, which is responsible for providing IT services for operation, monitoring & scheduling, operational processes, automation & orchestration.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to and implement the EIB digitalisation strategy in the domain of automation & orchestration systems;
  • Lead automation & orchestration design activities for projects supporting the various IT infrastructure peer domains including information security;
  • Ensure that projects are managed and that solutions are designed and implemented respecting standards and procedures;
  • Coordinate project teams for the implementation of projects and maintenance of automation tools
  • Leverage technology to automate manual tasks, and seek efficiency gains, in order to contribute to  continuous improvement, wherever practicable and appropriate  ;
  • Resolve incidents in coordination with the Incident and Problem Manager;
  • Maintain hardware and software in the latest levels of patching and supported versions;
  • Help the EIB in keeping up-to-date with the latest developments by bringing external views on technologies and the evolution of best practice. Run and support various proof-of-concept initiatives and evaluation of new software and technologies.

Qualifications

  • University degree preferably in computer science;
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT infrastructure, with an emphasis on orchestration and automation;
  • Proven experience of automation deployment, provisioning, configuration and knowledge of datacentre related technologies virtualisation, provisioning and IT infrastructure management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, Ansible, vRA, teraform);
  • Proven experience of delivering automation and orchestration solution to cloud and hybrid environments;
  • Broad understanding of IT infrastructure, IT applications, architecture, databases;
  • Experience in delivering automation and orchestration of IT infrastructure and datacentre services in collaboration with service partners;
  • Understanding of procurement and service contracts, including procuring software and services in a public sector environment would be an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire.  As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development.  Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process).  Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).  The Bank offers appropriate training support.
