We are expanding our gas and power business, transitioning to a global trading organisation.  To further capitalise on commercial insights, we are rapidly building our trading, origination & analytical capabilities to capture new assets and enter new market areas in Europe.  We are looking for passionate individuals with an entrepreneurial mind-set to drive change in our business.

The current opportunity is for an experienced Originator to join our Origination/Business Development team, as part of the Front office in our Europe Gas Optimization and Trading team, based in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Job Role Responsibilities

If successful you will take responsibility for building our pan European gas portfolio, with a focus on Southern and Central Europe. You will leverage your market understanding to recommend profitable trading & origination strategies and negotiate & execute standard/non-standard deals, including gas storage, transport and regas purchase/sales agreements. The key deliverables include:

  • Working with a team of 6-8 Originators, to significantly expand and enhance our gas portfolio position in Europe, with a view to build up a profitable and sustainable margin
  • Leading all commercial aspects of business development, including negotiation and execution of non-standard contracts and internal alignment with our trading team
  • Managing origination risk, control and compliance, while partnering with the trading team to structure deals
  • Working closely with the analytics, trading and LNG teams to develop, negotiate and execute future opportunities
  • Continually developing market knowledge and customer relationships
Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a numeric discipline e.g. Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Have previous experience as an Originator in the European gas industry, with analytical exposure to a physical trading environment
  • Be able to demonstrate:
    • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
    • The ability to collaborate effectively with internal & external customers
    • A creative approach to problem solving
    • The ability to work with multi-cultural global teams

Ideally the successful candidate would be familiar with several European gas markets. In addition, the following language proficiencies would be highly beneficial (French, German or Italian).
