The Bank for International Settlements’ mission is to support central banks’ pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership, and to act as a bank for central banks. The Banking Treasury team plays a key role supporting this mission by working in close collaboration with the different units of the Banking department.

We are looking for a Customer Support Officer to join the Back office team in our BIS Headquarters in Basel. The successful candidate will focus on the reconciliation of Trade confirmations, the monitoring of settlements and reconciliation of balances.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Investigate and resolve confirmation mismatches and settlement failures together with front office, Nostro agents, custodians and customers;
  • Ensure timeliness of settlements according to different markets’ deadlines;
  • Ensure timeliness of reconciliations according to internal procedures;
  • Maintain the best standards and efficiency in Settlements and Confirmations and the associated controlling processes;
  • Perform adjusting entries and write offs;
  • Ensure conformity with the rules set by Compliance or Audit;
  • Keep abreast of development in standards and settlements in financial markets;
  • Participation in projects and production of reports.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Good knowledge of Banking instruments, market practice and new initiatives in the Banking industry;
  • Minimum of two years of preferably in Banking operations;
  • Banking diploma or equivalent;
  • Flexible and able to cope with variety of tasks, collaborative;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Customer-focus mentality;
  • Ability to cope with pressure and tight deadlines;
  • Knowledge of Swift messaging formats;
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg information systems;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and promptly;
  • Strong communication skills including excellent written and spoken English.
