Main duties and responsibilities:

Within delegated authority, the Data Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Architect, create, and maintain data pipelines as the incumbent’s primary responsibility
  • Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it
  • Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues
  • Design data integrations and data quality framework
  • Optimize Data Pipeline workloads move from development to production for specific use cases
  • Manage the identification, design, and implementation of internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning architecture for greater scalability
  • Deploy resources to extract data features from complex datasets for data scientists and data analysts
  • Work closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the Data & Analytics area, including proven experience in:
    • Data engineering;
    • Python or Java development;
    • SQL;
    • Schema design and dimensional data modelling;
    • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Data Bricks, Azure or Google cloud
      services;
  • Ability in managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients;
  • Hands-on experience with data cleaning, visualization, and reporting.

Desirable:

  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining Enterprise Data platforms;
  • Experience working with either a Map Reduce or an MPP system on any size/scale;
  • Experience with No-SQL databases;
  • Experience with or knowledge of Data Platforms such as Databricks, Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, Incorta and MDM tool sets;
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
  • Knowledge of best practices and data operations;
  • Experience in design the architecture of UNICC’s big data platform;
  • Experience in designing and implementing data stores that support the scalable processing and storage of high frequency data.

Education*:

Essential:

  • First university degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an agile environment;
  • Advanced university degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required.

Other Information

Compensation:

Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
