About the mission

Mission:

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) has been working in Syria since 2012. The mission employs nearly 300 national staff, and more than 40 expatriates, and has a 25 million EUR budget forecasted for 2023. There are 3 implementing offices in Syria (2 in North East Syria/NES, 1 in North West Syria/NWS) with the coordination based in Amman – Jordan. This position is based in Amman, Jordan.

The NES programs provide an integrated assistance in the WASH, NFI, Shelter and Livelihoods sectors to displaced populations and host communities affected by the conflict. NWS programs are remotely managed and provide WASH, FSL, Shelter and NFI/Winterization support to affected populations.

Type and content of program:

Syria mission is dedicated to work in challenging context to provide lifesaving activities to the population affected by the conflict. A turn from lifesaving activities to more post-emergency/development has also been undertaken.

About the job

General objectives and the main task:

The Logistics Coordinator steers a mission’s logistical activities in order to ensure that Solidarités International in-country programs run smoothly.

He/she implements Solidarités International mission procedures and logistical tools and ensures that they are properly used and adhered to.

He/she participates in defining Solidarités International’s mission strategy, in drawing up projects and in assessing the resources needed for Solidarités International activities.

He/she supports the Country Director in operational security management.

He/she is the point of reference for the mission and serves as the link between headquarters and the mission for all matters relating to logistics.

Stock management
Premises management
Supply Management, during the Supply Co absence
Vehicle Fleet Management
Equipment park / Telecommunications management
Computer equipment management and monitoring
Human resources management
Capacity Building
Security
Reporting / capitalization

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

Standardization and harmonization of the tools and systems in NES and NWS.
Capacity building of the Amman Logistics Team and the Field Logistics Teams
Visits to all the Field Offices

Management:

Number of persons under direct management: 1 person: Deputy Logistics Coordinator (under Deputy there is 1 Logistics staff (in Amman)
Number of persons under functional management: 4 persons (Log Managers NES (x2) + Log Responsible Erbil + Log Manager NWS)

Your profile

Diploma/education:

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to supply and/or logistics.

Previous experience:

5-10 years of Logistics experience.
1-5 years of INGO experience including a managerial position.
Proven capacity building experience.
Experience in Syria context is an added value.

Skills:

Great communication, time management, team management.
Autonomous, organized, ability to prioritize and to work under pressure.
Strong computer skills essential.
