The Position:

The Chief, Supply Chain management Unit is responsible to provide overall leadership and guidance for the operationalization of the Supply Chain Management functions across UNFPA and to manage the Supply Chain Management Unit.

You will report directly to the Deputy Executive Director (Management) and functionally to the Deputy Executive Director (Programme).

UNFPA occupies a unique position in the Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS) space as a critical player in supply chain management, a leading public procurer of RH commodities, a trusted partner to national governments, and one of the few organizations with the scale and partnerships necessary to build accountability for last mile delivery.

The Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU), which is being established in 2021, ensures that UNFPA is able to effectively and efficiently support the delivery of life-saving reproductive health products and other programme supplies to the end user when and where they are needed. To do so, it provides enabling services to Regional Offices and Country Offices and ensures coordination, end-to-end visibility and accountability on all supply-chain-management related activities, in particular for programme supplies, across all UNFPA Programmes.

Job Purpose:

As Chief, Supply Chain Management Unit, you will have the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to ensuring that UNFPA can play its role as action leader and global champion of reproductive health and rights aiming to end unmet need for family planning, maternal death, and violence and harmful practices against women and girls.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Advanced university degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration. A professional Supply Chain Management certification (i.e. SCOR-P, CIPS) would be a plus.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 15 years of relevant and increasingly responsible professional and managerial experience in supply chain management and logistics in a large and geographically distributed public or private sector organization;
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with Reproductive Health Commodity Security;
  • Experience in supply chain management and logistics in humanitarian settings is a strong asset;
  • Strong inter-personal skills and capability to develop and maintain broad diversified partnerships;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large and geographically dispersed teams.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
